TEMPERATURES FALL FROM A HIGH OF 63F EARLY YESTERDAY
TO LOW OF 30F BY 7 A.M. THIS MORNING
WINDS CONTINUED GUSTY THROUGHOUT LAST NIGHT AS THE
DIRECTION VEERED FROM WSW TO W AND WNW THIS MORNING
The lowest barometer corrected to sea level was 29.09
Inches about mid-afternoon yesterday.
Yesterday morning’s big rain and windstorm included a
rise in temperature which reached 63F, the warmest
February reading here since 1997 was not, however
a record maximum for the date. The temperature
continued to fall overnight reaching 37F by midnight
and then down to 30F by 7 a.m. this morning.
However, the normal low is still down at 21 degrees!
The peak wind gust….
of 76 MPH from the south officially set a new record
for the date of 75 MPH. Several of our unofficial
gust recording systems recorded gusts of 80 to 84 MPH.
Peak gusts yesterday morning recorded by the various
anemometers at the Observatory:
Aerovane: 73 MPH S (corrected by 13%, 84 MPH uncorrected)
Richards: 84 MPH
Davis: 74 MPH S
420C: 76 MPH (official manual record)
Maestro: 83 MPH
Merlin: 78 MPH S
RMY: missing (anomalous gust recorded at 110 MPH)
