Join Us for a Special Webinar Event “Taking the Fingerprints of Global Sea Level Change” March 24, 2021 from 7pm to 8pm

Our esteemed presenter is Dr. Jerry X. Mitrovica, the Frank Baird Jr. Professor of Science in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, and a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” recipient in 2019.

About the Presentation
Global average sea level rise estimates over the last century and projections to the end of the current century are common, but they are of limited use to coastal communities concerned with local conditions. In recent years, one of the major advances in climate research has been the growing understanding of the factors that give rise to geographic variations in sea level change. These factors will be assessed along with recent efforts to “fingerprint” the observed variability in sea level.

We are honored to host Dr. Mitrovica as a presenter to Blue Hill Observatory’s community in fulfillment of our mission: to foster public understanding of Earth’s weather, climate, and environmental systems and to continue to produce, maintain, and analyze a meticulous, consistent record of weather and climate observations.
