DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2015
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
DECEMBER TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO WARM FAR ABOVE NORMAL
LOW OF 35F THIS MORNING WAS +8 ABOVE NORMAL
EARLY AFTERNOON TEMPS. WERE IN THE MID 50’S
The first 5 days of December averaged 5 degrees above the normal with
only December 1 coming in slightly below normal. Increasing warmth
continues today with light to gentle to moderate southwest winds.
Radiation fog, mostly thin filled the lowest layer of the atmosphere
This morning. As warmer air prevailed aloft the top of the inversion could
be seen starting at around 5 hundred feet rising to one thousand
feet by 10 A.M. before dissipating. The effects of warm air above
the cold layer caused “looming” of 2000 foot Mt. Wachusett which
appeared quite flattened 45 miles to our west-northwest and with
only the very top of the summit visible above the inversion.
The sky has been completely free of clouds again today until high
cirrus clouds began to appear to the west early this afternoon.
The maximum sea-level pressure for November of 30.88
inches, which occurred late on the 25th, ties the
highest pressure ever measured in the month that was
previously set on November 28, 1932.
