Dave Cook Scholarship Fund Established

Dave Cook, our dear friend and long-time Board member of the Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center, most regrettably passed away in 2020 at the age of 82.

He was a brilliant engineer, avid skier and sailor, MIT and Harvard Business School graduate, and dedicated philanthropist.  He gave his time and expertise happily to further the cause of the Blue Hill Observatory among other organizations.   Dave was a firm believer in the value of STEM education, especially for under-served students.

In his honor, the Dave Cook Scholarship Fund was established to allow a grade 8-12 student to attend our annual “Launch Your Weather Career” workshop hosted by fellow Board member and TV Meteorologist, Tim Kelley, of NECN TV.

We encourage all students interested in attending Tim’s summer workshop (see link for the details and application) to email us and let us know why you would like to attend.  Our panel will select the student with the most compelling email who then will be allowed to attend, compliments of the scholarship fund.  Please send your emails to corloff@bluehill.org.
