HEAVY RAIN EVENT TOTALS 1.55 INCHES, NEW DAILY
RECORD MAXIMUM OF 58F BREAKS OLD RECORD SUNDAY,
GUSTY WINDS CONTINUE INTO COLDER MONDAY
Temperatures reached their peak yesterday late afternoon
as we established a new daily record maximum temperature of
58F between 5:00 and 6:00 PM EST yesterday, breaking the
previous record of 54F, set back in 2000. Heavy rain that
fell throughout the day yesterday finally came to an end
around 7:00 PM last evening, totaling 1.55 inches on the day.
Precipitation for the month of January and the year is now
0.13 inches above normal so far, but snowfall is below normal
for the month and season at -5.4 inches and -20.1 inches
respectively.
Gusty winds that reached a peak of 53 MPH from the SSE
yesterday afternoon have relaxed somewhat since yesterday,
although they have continued to reach near 40 MPH today.
Clear and cooling conditions behind last evening’s cold
front have brought temperatures down into the lower 30s
and upper 20s so far today.
