DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
TUESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2019
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

HIGH PRESSURE AND DRY CONDITIONS PERSIST….

Today’s weather has continued the week’s trend consisting of cold
and clear days coupled with relatively dry conditions.  High pressure
and cold temperatures continue to stifle significant cloud development,
with cirroform clouds residing as the dominant entity throughout the
observation period. The array of cirroform clouds has proven to be a
daily highlight, with several different forms and shapes on display.
Temperatures from the past 36 hours are shaping up to be fairly close
to seasonal averages, a marked contrast from the warm start to January.
Wind speeds have been reduced throughout the day, sustaining around
10 knots for the majority of the observation period.  Though modest,
this breeze still continues to flow in from the northwest, continuing
to bring cold air to the region.
