WARMER TEMPERATURES ARRIVING TODAY AHEAD OF
APPROACHING RAIN STORM…

The lowest temperature overnight of 23F occurred late
Friday evening, and the temperature has climbed since
then to the upper 20’s by day break to the low 40s by
early afternoon today. Dew points near -5F continued
into Friday evening as well before climbing into the
teens this morning and the low 30’s by mid-day. The
sky remained mostly cloudy with the sun filtered through
thin cirrus much of the day, but lower clouds began
arriving around 2 PM as the next rain storm approaches
the area. With the temperature remaining below freezing
for more than sixty hours from late Wednesday until this
morning, nearby Ponkapoag Pond froze over late on the
23rd. Houghton’s Pond reached about 8/10 ice cover
early this morning before beginning to melt once again
as the temperature reached 40 degrees today.
