DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID DAY WITH ALREADY RECORD-TYING
HIGH TEMPERATURES…

The high maximum temperature so far today by 1:00 P.M is
a record-tying daily high maximum temperature of 92F. The
previous daily high maximum record of 92F was originally
set back in 1900. 92F is 17 degrees above the daily normal
temperature of 75F. The overnight low temperature since
midnight of 70F is close to record breaking as well, being
1 degree below the daily high record minimum temperature of
71F set in 1983. Yesterday the high maximum temperature of
89F was also 1 degree below the record of 90F, originally
set in  1971. The wind has been breezy and from the SW/WSW
today with frequent gust over 17 kts (20 MPH). Visibility was
limited to 15 miles at 7:00 A.M. due to morning fog. It then
increased to 45 miles by 10:00 A.M. and finally decreased down
to 30 miles at 1:00 P.M. due to a distant lingering haze in
the area. Day began with overcast stratus in the morning which
quickly broke up after sunrise and we had clear skies at the
10:00 A.M. observation then scattered cumulus and cirrus at
the 1:00 P.M. observation.
