BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2008    ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME UNLESS NOTED    SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO PASS US BY ONLY TRACE OF RAINFALL ON SUNDAY AND EARLY TODAY LESS THAN ONE QUARTER INCH OF RAINFALL PAST WEEK    While thunderstorms and associated downpours have brought inches of rainfall to many parts of southern New England during the past week, right here at Blue Hill and eastward across the suburbs south of Boston the important rain has passed us by.  Only a few hundredths of an inch has fallen on several days.      Drizzle along the coast on Saturday never made it inland  and was only mist here with not even a trace of precip- itation. Thunderstorms passed well to our north but we now have a couple reports of thunder heard to our northwest during the late afternoon making yesterday our 9th day this month with thunder heard--the record for the month is ten days.   Soaking rain in thunderstorms over southeastern Massachusetts early this morning also missed here with just a couple of traces of rain between 5 and 7 a.m. EDT.   Over the past week less than one quarter of an inch rainfall has been recorded here at Blue Hill and this continues to be a dry June right here despite all the heavier rain around us.  The month is running an inch and a half drier than normal.  All this could change later today, if a heavy shower or thunderstorm finally hits us here.   Today's observations:   8 A.M.
