Clear sky and calm wind overnight resulted in morning low temperatures in the 30's in the traditional cold spots. Norwood Airport had a low of 35 degrees. Here atop Blue Hill the low of 50 degrees was one above the normal minimum temperature for this date. A NEW RECORD "HIGH MINIMUM" TEMPERATURE may be set this month if the current low of 49 degrees holds. The previous record is 46 degrees in four different years in the decade of the 1990's. We've checked all the Septembers back through 1951. In a preliminary check of earlier data, a minimum of 48 degrees was recorded in 1934.
